We’ve got the kind of weekend ahead that makes up for slogging through the snow earlier this month!
First of all, we have a couple from a radio station from the Toledo area staying at the Guesthouse tonight and then broadcasting live from the farm tomorrow about horses and history of Paris and Bourbon County, Rosecrest Farm, and the Guesthouse.
You can listen live from 9 to 11 AM Saturday morning at www.talkradio1470.com ! Bobby Shiflet, Margaret Layton and moi will be talking with Rick & Jackie Metz.
Then we have Sharla Rae running in the $150,000 Grade 3 Bourbonette S. at Turfway tomorrow afternoon. It’s a very competitive race….Click here for the Blood-Horse’s take on the race.
But there’s nary a doubt in our hearts! We’re rooting for the beautiful Sharla Ray…winner of the California Oaks, Barretts Debutante Stakes and Pike Place Dancer Stakes. She has four wins from eight starts.
First of all, WC Racing owned our GOLDENCENTS, and did everything right by him at every turn. Second, they care for all their horses the way they did Goldencents, as I described in one of my earlier posts you can read if you click here. Third, WC Racing makes us part of their family, so that’s why we can say “we have Sharla Rae running”.
The best part of the weekend is yet to come, as Glenn Sorgenstein will be coming to stay at The Guesthouse at Rosecrest Farm on Saturday night after the race. Here they will get to see their five mares who have accommodatingly ALL foaled already.
Glenn loves his horses and he offered a month ago to trade “his ocean front property in Malibu” for our front row seat when his babies were arriving in the snow up to our you-know-whats. So hopefully that tells you what a joy it is to share his babies with him this weekend.
Life is sweet.
My daughter, Rosie and I were thrilled to see the foals that had arrived prior to and during our stay at the Guesthouse earlier this month. We have watched the video over and over of ‘Max’ making his brave ‘stand’ in his first moments of life. We will try to catch the radio broadcast and will keep an eye on Sharla Rae tomorrow.
P.S. On our way back to Michigan on March 4th, we were in Dayton, Ohio when it began to snow south of us in Cincinnati. We drove out of that storm with about 90 minutes to spare before it started! Whew!
Congratulations and the very best to Sharla Rae….
Enjoy your well deserved weekend!!!
Good luck to Sharla Rae!
A beautiful weekend for beautiful people! ☀️
Loved the radio show! Will it be archived so we can share with my brother and his wife who are coming with us to Rosecrest on April 1? We can’t wait to see you again and see the new babies! Good luck today with Sharla Rae!
The Metzes said it should be available on Podcast by Monday. We’ll hopefully figure out how we can archive for longer than the month they said it will be saved for Podcast.
Rosecrest Farm seems like the most exciting place in the world to be!
I hope Sharla Ray wins. Sharla Ray’s light blue colors with the horse shoes are most attractive.
I would give anything to hear the radio broadcast. If I do not hear it in real time, perhaps I will be able to afterwards. I met Bobby Shiflet in his shop while visiting Rosecrest last spring. What a lovely man. We took pictures of each other, of me in front of Lil’s, and Bobby in front of his wonderful shop. He gave me a beautiful, commemorative 2014 Secretariat calendar, another lovely gesture from one of Kentucky’s friendly people.
