It’s October and it not only feels like fall but also looks like fall. The leaves are starting to turn, the horses are filling the barns at Keeneland for the fall race meet and the spiders are creating their lacey artwork on the fences.
Let me start with our last race results. Two of our babies raised at Rosecrest broke their maidens (won their first race), both in a nail biting finish winning by a nose. Roses N Gold, Rosecrest homebred and Ami Please a homebred for Glenn Sorgenstein WC Racing Inc., raised at Rosecrest and Wilshire Farm. Roses N Gold is our three year old by Goldencents out of Rose Dela Troienne and Ami Please is a two year old by Goldencents out of Bellezza Rosso. If you’re trying to keep up with other babies you saw while staying at the B&B in 2020 here are some names for you. MISS LIZZY, by Classic Empire out of Caradini. AURA OF GOLD, by Goldencents out of Sweet Halory. JOHNNY DRAMA, by Goldencents out of Hit The Limit. KENNY D, by Flatter out of First Shift. CHAY’S TORNADO, by Arrogate out of Chaybaby. Zed, by Arrogate out of Shane’s Girlfriend.
This year’s babies are growing up and are going thru their first big change of life—BEING WEANED. No more timeouts, no curfews, no more sharing the feed tub with mom, no more mom imposed rules– Freedom at last. The moms often give that sigh of relief and start thinking about some carefree girls only time, at least for a few months until their next baby is due. So let me share the projected foaling dates.

Hopefully these dates will help many of you plan your next stay with us. It’s a guessing game!! We have some regulars who try to pick a week when there are several mares due since everyone has learned the girls don’t always deliver on their projected due dates. Or maybe you prefer visiting when the weather is a little nicer and we have a good number of babies running around their moms.
Keeneland opens their fall meet today and after a fun month of regular racing we are fortunate enough that the Breeders Cup will once again be hosted at Keeneland. The best of the best will be at Keeneland for what is sure to be great racing!! The morning works are quite exciting since most of the horses will have their names on their saddle blanket so you know which star you’re seeing.
If all of this talk about racing has you excited then maybe this is the year for you to personally get involved in the sport and feeling the thrill of your horse thundering down the stretch by buying into a racehorse. We have a homebred filly that will be turning two in three short months and ready to start her racing career. Contact us for details on owning your part of this special filly.
As always, we look forward to your next visit!!
