We mentioned more than a year ago how WC Racing (Glenn Sorgenstein and Josh Kaplan) soooo kindly made us feel like family through all of GOLDENCENTS’ accomplishments. [ CLICK HERE  for a reminder!]  Well, it has become only “more so” as time goes on.  In fact, I owe my readers an explanation of the exponential, and exciting, expansion of “Team Rosecrest” by WC Racing’s purchase of the historic land behind us that is now dubbed “Wilshire Farm”.

But more about that later….  Today I need to just sit down and share the fun news that WC Racing has FOUR horses running in stakes races today!!!

RAMONA’S WILDCAT is in the $50,000 Happy Ticket Stakes at the Fair Grounds; and at Delta Downs they have SAMMY MANDEVILLE is in the $250,000 Delta Mile, SHANE’S GIRLFRIEND is in the $400,000 Delta Princess Stakes and DANGERFIELD is in the $1,000,000 Delta Jackpot.

Goldencents' win in the million dollar Delta Downs Jackpot of 2012!

Goldencents’ win in the million dollar Delta Downs Jackpot of 2012!

The latter is especially cool because GOLDENCENTS won that million dollar race four years ago!!!   That victory helped make him one of the favorites for the 2013 Kentucky Derby — that wild and wonderful ride on which we accompanied WC Racing three years ago.

While I have your ear / eyes… I’ll tell you that we had two of our homebreds running in the same race at Santa Anita on November 3 as  SASSY ROSE and PISTOL PACKIN ROSE raced against each other. Doug O’Neil wanted each to have a little easier second career start, so we dropped them to a maiden claiming.  [I just prayed they would not get claimed!!!!]

They came out of post positions 11 and 12, right together as both broke well… side by side. I was so proud of them!  We actually thought Pistol Packin Rose  (who went off at 7 to 2) would have the advantage in this race since she had two bullet works in preparation.  Pistol Packin Rose ran in second and third to the stretch, when unfortunately she displaced (a breathing problem) and ended up sixth.

Sassy Rose hung back in fourth and fifth and at the top of the stretch moved four-wide and almost took the win!!!!  Sassy came out of the race great and Pistol Packin Rose had a small procedure to remedy the displacing and will resume training.  We’ll try to do a better job of keeping you posted (smile).
